Following the 15th EREM Symposium held in Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, in August 2017, the 16th International Symposium on Electrokinetic Remediation (EREM 2018) will be held in Canakkale, Turkey.
EREM Symposiums started in Albi (France) in 1997, and was followed by subsequent editions spread around the world, i.e. Lyngby, Denmark (1999), Karlsruhe, Germany (2001), Mol, Belgium (2003), Ferrara, Italy (2005), Vigo, Spain (2007), Seoul, South Korea (2008), Lisbon, Portugal (2009), Kaohsiung, Taiwan (2010), Utrecht, The Netherlands (2011), Sapporo, Japan (2012), Boston, USA (2013), Málaga, Spain (2014), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (2016) and Montreal, Canada (2017). All 15 Symposiums resulted in broad participation from engineering and scientific communities, and made an important contribution to the electrokinetics, bringing the cutting edge developments to the fore. We expect to achieve the same success in the 16th EREM Symposium.
Electrokinetic remediation was mainly applied in the remediation of soil and water contaminated with organic and inorganic pollutants. Recently, there has been a growing interest in the applicability of the electrokinetic techniques in other areas, such as mining, food industry, medical science, etc. The EREM Symposium is an opportunity for scientists to present and discuss recent developments in this subject. So, we hope that this edition in Canakkale (Turkey) will provide a venue to present and discuss new research results and new opportunities in electrokinetics.
We welcome you and look forward to seeing you in Canakkale.
